Three FLCians receive Youth Excellence in Science Awards
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) honored and recognized 48 students from the Province of Cavite for their remarkable contributions to the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and for winning in various national and international competitions.
Arkeen Jed Cirston U. Pernito, Alfonso Iñigo E. Encarguez, and Franchezka C. Mendoza of Fr. Luigi Caburlotto School are part of the 203 CALABARZON and 48 Cavite Awardees who received medals and certificates during the awarding ceremony at SM City Dasmariñas, March 13, 2024.
Pernito, Encarguez, and Mendoza emerged victorious in different international mathematics competitions, which brought honor not just to the school but to the entire country.
According to Franchezka C. Mendoza of Grade 4 Cordiality, receiving such a prestigious award from the DOST gives her not just pride but also a challenge and a responsibility always to carry out the standard of excellence that Fr. Luigi Caburlotto School has been practicing.
“As a recipient of the award, I will always inspire all my fellow FLCians to do their best in everything we do, and I will always serve as a role model to all the students who find math and science challenging.
During the awarding ceremony, Ms. Gilda S. De Jesus, Provincial Director of DOST-Cavite, emphasized that the success of the awardees reflects hard work, dedication, and support from coaches, schools, and parents.
Meanwhile, De Jesus also quoted DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum's message, saying, “In whatever you do, do not forget that the real essence of Excellence is not based on recognition and merits alone; rather, it is based on what you use it. May your successes always lead you to the path of compassion and empower you to uplift the lives of the Filipino people by taking the helm of research and development.”
The awardees are encouraged to carry DOST's aspirations forward and to continue pursuing STEM knowledge. Ms. De Jesus congratulated her and offered best wishes for their future endeavors.
