National Schools Press Conference in Cebu 2024

Batang TD scribes to compete in National Schools Press Conference after winning Regional Campus Journalism tilt.

Six members of the Batang TD (The DIalogue and Tinig Dayalogo) are set to compete in the 2024 National Schools Press Conference in Carcar City Cebu on July 13 - 19 after winning in various categories in the concluded 2024 Regional Schools Press Conference held at Laguna Cluster on February 27 - March 2.
Athena Yasmine Arcano, Franchesca Emmanuelle Paccial, Athena Camonayan, Carl Jan Pangilinan, and Mark Stephen Del Rosario ranked first in the Collaborative Desktop Publishing group category. In this contest, all the groups were given five hours to develop a complete four-page publication based on the press conference they attended about the role of campus journalism in achieving gender equality and women empowerment.

According to Del Rosario, the group's team leader, the intensive and rigid training provided by the club and the Division of Cavite Province helped the group master the contest's dynamics.
“Sobrang saya po namin na nadepensahan po namin yung title since almost a decade na din po na champion ang FLCS sa collaborative publishing, and challenge sa amin this time is maipagpatuloy ang aming winning hanggang sa national level.’, Del Rosario added.

Meanwhile, Batang TD made history by winning back-to-back in the feature writing category. Amajhalia Alcantara won third, and Lois Nessia Rocillo placed eighth, the first feature writer in the Philippines to win in the said category. The two wrote feature stories about the victims of extra-judicial killings during the government of former president Rodrigo Duterte. Alcantara will be one of the additional members of the Collaborative Publishing team.
In line with the individual writers' winnings, Arwin James Veluz of Grade 6 Compassion became the only winner from the Cavite delegation, placing sixth in Column Writing Filipino.

For the school paper contest, Tinig Dayalogo, the official Filipino publication of the school, was hailed as the 3rd Best School Paper of CALABARZON after gaining multiple winnings, including 2nd Best Features Page, 4th Best News Page, and 5th Best in Layout.
Joseph Natanauan, the School Paper Adviser, thanked the entire community of Fr. Luigi Caburlotto School for fully supporting the journalism endeavors of all the Batang TDs.
